The Gate Called Beautiful (pinhole photograph)

$25.00$50.00

Finally, my first successful pinhole photograph of Decatur’s “Beautiful” gate, shot with a camera I made from an Atloids tin.  If you are familiar with the downtown Decatur area, you have probably seen this “beautiful” old building and gate.  It is beautiful… and the idea for it comes from a fabled gate in Jerusalem; the Gate Called Beautiful. Here’s a bit more info about it.  I have been trying to make a pinhole photo of it for awhile now… many failed attempts, and many blocked attempts (there is frequently a fish and chips food truck parked blocking the view).

Signed and numbered limited edition archival prints are available directly from me here in 2 sizes:

4.75″x4.75″ matted (8″x8″ mat) – $25 (Ed of 250)
8″x8″ matted (12″x12″ mat) – $50 (Ed of 250)

Please allow 5 days for production, plus shipping.

Other options available, please contact me to discuss.

About Pinhole Photography

Pinhole photography is photography at its most basic. Pinhole cameras can be made from any light-tight container by making a small “pinhole” in it that will serve as the lens. I make many of mine out of Altoids tins and other similar boxes. The images are usually very wide angle, soft dreamlike images.

There is a wealth of information about pinhole photography available online. I recommend starting with Wikipedia if you are interested in learning more about it.
