No experience necessary

Light Club is a collaborative solargraphy project where participants from all over the world work together to capture the sun’s journey using pinhole cameras and a bit of patience.

The only rule of Light Club: Do not open the cameras. Seriously.

This is your chance to be part of something creative, a little quirky, and totally rewarding.

  • My goal is to collaboratively create a series of 3-month, 6-month and 12-month exposure images with your help.
  • I will create, load and provide the cameras to you.
  • You will place them somewhere for 3 months, 6 months, and/or 12 months and then send them back to me for processing.
  • I will share your images with you.

If you're the kind of person who's up for an experimental art project and loves a bit of mystery, then you’ve found your people. Together, we'll create images that reveal the unseen paths of light over days, weeks, or even months. No filters, no fancy equipment. Just you, me, the sun, and cameras that looks suspiciously like they belong in a spy movie.

What is Solargraphy?

Solargraphy is an experimental form of long-exposure photography — we’re talking weeks or months. With just a pinhole camera, light-sensitive paper, and time, we capture the movement of the sun across the sky, creating stunning and unexpected images—no two are alike.

Here’s How Light Club Works

  1. Sign up.
  2. I will send you some of my pinhole cameras, fully loaded and ready to use, along with instructions how and where to place them.
  3. Place your cameras somewhere interesting for 1-6 months — hang them on a fence, tape them to a window, afix to a post or stake, etc. Then, send me a pic of your cameras in action and let me know me where and when you set each one out.
  4. Keep an eye on them. I’ll be in touch to remind you and see how it’s going.
  5. When the time’s up (I'll remind you), close the shutters and send the cameras back to me.
  6. I’ll process the images and send you digital files of your solargraphs. If you love them (and you will), you can also order prints through my online provider.
  7. I’ll add your images to an online gallery to show off what we created together. You’re now part of a global collaboration. High fives all around. 🙌🏻
